Blaaaargh!

ATI Technologies.... I CURSE THY NAME!!!

I finally got the time to upgrade the kernel on my Gentoo laptop to the latest 2.6.12 build in portage... And guess what... The ati-driver is broken with 2.6.12.

Damn, damn damn... the drivers compiles just fine but suddenly I noticed my OpenGL screensavers running a bit choppy. So I fire up fgl_glxgears to test my 3D performance.. and it crashes... A quick glxinfo | grep "direct rendering" later and I'm cursing ATI's name out loud! No direct rendering, broken drivers!

And in the Changelog of ati-drivers there's even a notice about a 2.6.12 patch being included... BAH!

Well I don't really use 3D on my laptop much, but it's damn annoying! I wish ATI would take to their senses and start making proper Linux drivers... or they could GPL the drivers and let the Linux hackers do their magic!
