Schools out and summer is here! And for me it's work work work. Living the life of 08-1600. BahCurrently I'm working for UNINETT FAS evaluating middleware solutions for information integration and cross system reporting. Don't really like to 8-1600 routine, but at least the work is interesting :).
So far I've been looking through solutions from Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, Actuate and IBM, there sure is a lot of solutions out there (and a lot of marketing talk!). Have only had a quick view on these but I'm going to look closer into the new BPEL technology.
BPEL is a XML based language for programming in the large, combining WebServices in workflows creating complex systems working across multiple computers and applications. I think this is a really interesting technology, and hopefully this will increase the overall popularity of WebServices on the Web. Anyways this sure is the buzzword in the Business Integration scene these days, along with EII solutions (Enterprise Information Integration), enabling realtime integration of informationsources.
As for LynWeb, we've started the planning of version 3.0 of our PHP/Framework and CMS application called Hybrid. Can't really reveal much details around this, but I can say that it will be great :)
In Hybrid 3 we'll focus on architecture, extensibility, connectivity and of course our usual goal of improved usability :). Technologically we'll finally make the conversion to PHP5. So I'll have to beef up my PHP5 skills. Even has already started coding, and I'm looking forward to begin as well.
I'm also checking out some AJAX technology, enables the creation of some kickass Web interfaces (like GMail). It still feels kind of awkward though, but the results sure are nice.
